puppy training

Start Strong. Grow Together.
Puppy training in Ball Ground can make bringing home a new puppy a little less overwhelming. Between biting, jumping, accidents, leash walking, and figuring out what your puppy needs from you, there’s a lot to teach in a short amount of time. Puppy training helps you build good habits early while creating clear communication between you and your new dog.
We’ll work on the skills that make everyday life easier, including basic obedience, manners, leash skills, recall, handling, and other challenges that come with raising a puppy. Just as importantly, I’ll help you understand what’s normal puppy behavior, what your puppy is communicating, and how to respond in a way that encourages the behavior you want.
The goal isn’t to create a perfectly behaved puppy overnight. It’s to give you the tools and confidence to guide your puppy as they grow. By building a strong foundation now, you can prevent many common problems, develop reliable skills, and start creating the kind of relationship you want to have with your dog for years to come.
Puppy Training
Puppy training is designed to help you build a strong foundation from the beginning while addressing the everyday challenges that come with raising a young dog. Training is tailored to your puppy, your household, and the skills you want to prioritize.
Private Puppy Training | Starting at $125
Private sessions give us the flexibility to focus on what you and your puppy need most. We can work on potty training, basic obedience, biting and mouthing, jumping, leash walking, recall, crate training, house-training routines, handling, socialization, confidence building, and other common puppy challenges.
We’ll also work on establishing good habits before unwanted behaviors have time to become established. You’ll learn how to communicate clearly with your puppy, reinforce the behaviors you want, and continue building on those skills as your puppy grows.

When Should Puppy Training Start?
You don’t need to wait until your puppy is older to start training. Learning begins the moment your puppy comes home, and those first weeks are an important opportunity to establish routines, communication, boundaries, and good habits. Age-appropriate training can begin right away and grow with your puppy as they develop.
Early training also goes beyond teaching commands. This is an important time for helping your puppy experience the world safely, develop confidence, become comfortable with handling, and learn how to interact appropriately with people, dogs, environments, sounds, and everyday situations.
What About Vaccinations?
Your puppy doesn’t necessarily have to wait until their entire puppy vaccination series is complete to begin training, but where and how we train may depend on their age, vaccination status, and your veterinarian’s recommendations.
For puppies who aren’t ready to train around unfamiliar dogs or in higher-risk public environments, private training can take place at your home or in another appropriate setting. As your puppy progresses through their vaccinations, we can adjust where we train and introduce new environments and experiences safely.
Because every puppy’s health and vaccination schedule is different, I recommend discussing appropriate exposure with your veterinarian. We’ll work within those recommendations rather than delaying all training and socialization during an important stage of your puppy’s development.
“His approach is personalized, understanding each dog’s unique needs and personality traits. My dog, who used to struggle with basic commands, showed remarkable progress in one session. …Thanks to John giving us the tools for success. Our dog has become more obedient, sociable, and happy.”
